Hey there, travelers! How are you doing today? I'd like to welcome you to this week's post in which I'll be talking about my favorite places on campus, as part of my State College travel series. You can check out my other article on the Arboretum by clicking
here. I figure that since I've spent so much time talking about foreign countries and traveling abroad, I should also try to bring things closer to home every once in a while, too. Happy Valley is a really cool place, and I've come up with a list of my favorite places on campus so far. Let's dive right in!
Au Bon Pain • Café & Bakery
You probably know about the Au Bon Pain in between the Palmer Museum of Art and the Zoller Gallery, but what you might not know is that there is another ABP in the Kern Graduate Building, located right next to the Nittany Lion Shrine. My friend Gillian shared this information with me, and I've been going to the this location ever since. Kern is a really nice building, and not to mention, a good place to study if you can manage to find a seat. In fact, the picture above was taken there. So anyway, if one ABP is super busy, you can always take a short walk to the other and get your breakfast there. Très pratique.

Palmer Museum of Art
It wouldn't be right to get through this post without mentioning the Palmer Museum of Art. We've all seen it. We all pass by it. But have you actually gone inside before? I had the chance to go over Parents And Families weekend last semester, and I'm really glad I went. They always have cool exhibitions on display, as well as a range of collections, from American Portraiture to Japanese Woodblock Prints. If you're really interested in art, you can even join the museum's Print and Drawing Club.

Pegula Ice Arena
I realize that this whole post is about my favorite places on campus, but the Pegula Ice Arena is up there at the top of my list. Whether you're an Olympic skater or first-time novice, ice skating is always a good time. Unless you're like me, who decided that it would be a good idea to wear my nice watch out on the ice. Long story short, I ended up falling suuuuper gracefully and smashing my watch into a few pieces. All embarrassing stories aside, the Pegula Ice Arena is super fun. It costs $5.50 with your PSU ID, and $3 for skate rentals. Not too bad, if you ask me.

Maston Museum of Anthropology
Fun Fact: The University Park campus houses 6 museums and several art galleries. Not many other colleges can say that, eh? This museum is located behind the Nittany Lion Shrine, right by Au Bon Pain. You could kill two birds with one stone and visit both if you find yourself in the area. The museum promotes the appreciation for human cultural and biological diversity among the public through its exhibits and educational tours. I had a great time when I visited, and learned a whole lot in the process. Now I know a whole lot more about Tibetan prayer wheels, Inuit carvings, the Peruvian Ekeko, and Hungarian puzzle jug. I definitely suggest you check it out if you have the time.

My Dorm
If you don't live in East Halls, you probably think it's the worst place to live on campus. It's where 98% of Penn State's freshman live, and many think it's a swamp of party animals and loud music. But I really enjoy living here. It's allowed me to meet and become friends with so many people in my grade, people that I wouldn't have met had I lived elsewhere. Not to mention, thew view from my dorm is Beaver Stadium. From East Halls, it's only a quick walk to the Stadium, Pegula Ice Arena, Pool, and Berkey Creamery. In any case, I take great pride in how I've set up my room.
